パラオでは引き続き干ばつが続いております。

3月22日に発出されましたパラオ共和国の非常事態宣言にも記されて様にNOAA（アメリカ海洋大気庁）の3月21日付報告では過去４ヶ月の降水量は1951年以来最低を記録し、コロールでの干ばつは極度の干ばつ状態（4段階中3番目）であり、平均値以下の降水量が今後2-3ヶ月続くという予報が出ております。また、水源に関しましてもアイライ州にあるダムは閉鎖、川は水量19%以下。新たな水源として以前使われていたとされる井戸などの水質を調査しております。

今年１月から水位の低下が見られていたものの、３月に入り急激な低下が見られたためPPUC（パラオ公共事業公社）は3月12日から14時間、19日から16時間、そして22日から18時間の計画断水をアイライ州並びにコロール周辺にて実施しております。

アイライ州並びにコロール周辺以外のバベルダオブ島の地域やペリリューやアンガウルの各州でも水不足が発生しており、同じく計画断水が実施されております。

極度の水不足により健康状態が懸念される中、山火事の発生や発電所の冷却水確保も懸念材料であります。

ICAO（国際民間航空機関）が制定したパスポートの国際基準により11月25日以降、機械読取式パスポートでないとパラオに入国できなくなりました。

皆さま、パラオへと渡航される際は今一度パスポートをご確認下さい。

確認方法やパスポートについてのお問い合わせは発行元（日本国パスポートは日本国外務省）までご確認下さい。

その他パラオ入国の条件に変更はありません。

According to Standards and Recommended Practices of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), Machine Readable Passports (MRP) are required to enter Palau effective November 25th, 2015.

Please verify your passport once again to ensure your travel.

平成27年秋の叙勲等が平成27年11月3日付けで日本国政府より発令されました。

その中でもパラオ国籍のイサオ・シンゲオ 氏が旭日双光章を受章、また在横浜パラオ共和国名誉総領事の藤木幸太 氏が黄綬褒章を受章しました。

イサオ・ピーター・シンゲオ 氏（男、７７歳）はパラオ共和国ペリリュー州ゲルデロルク地区在住、現 ペリリュー州酋長、現 ペリリュー州議会議員。長年にわたり日本・パラオ間の遺骨収集・慰霊分野における関係強化へ寄与してきた功績として受章。

The Government of Japan announced the 2015 Autumn Imperial Decorations on November 3rd, 2015. From the Republic of Palau, Chief Obak’Idelolk Mr. Isao Peter Singeo was awarded The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, and Honorary Consul-General Mr. Kohta Fujiki was awarded the Medal with Yellow Ribbon.

Mr. Isao Peter Singeo (Age 77) currently resides in Ngerdelolk Hamlet, Peleliu State of the Republic of Palau and is a Traditional Chief (Chief Obak’Idelolk) as well as a Non-Elected Permanent Member of the Peleliu State Legislature. He has been awarded in recognition of all the efforts and distinguished services he has contributed over the years to strengthen the cooperative relation between Japan and Palau in the search for recovery and to commemorate those who lost their lives during World War 2.

天皇皇后両陛下は明日、６月１７日に宮城県蔵王町にある北原尾（きたはらお）地区を行幸啓なさいます。北原尾は「北のパラオ」としての名前の由来があり、太平洋戦争終戦後、パラオより引き揚げた日本人によりこの地域が開拓され、命名されました。

Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan will visit the Kitaharao region located in Zao Town of Miyagi Prefecture tomorrow, June 17th, 2015 (JST). The name Kitaharao derives from “Kita no Palau” meaning North Palau. After the end of World War 2, the Japanese residents in Palau retreated in which these people found and named the region.

1997年より3年に一度開催されている太平洋・島サミット(PALM 7/Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting)が今日と明日（2015年5月22・23日）、福島県いわき市で開催されます。太平洋島嶼国16カ国が出席する今回のサミットは第7回を迎え、気候変動や太平洋島嶼国と日本の関係を強化する目的の首脳会議や関係者間協議が行われます。サミットに合わせ、様々な関係行事も開催されています。また、今回のサミットでは太平洋諸島フォーラムにて議長を務めたパラオ共和国のトミー・レメンゲサウ大統領が安倍総理大臣と共同議長を務めます。

The 7th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting will be held today and tomorrow (May 22 & 23, 2015) in Iwaki City of Fukushima Prefecture. This summit is held every 3 years since 1997. President Tommy Remengesau Jr. of the Republic of Palau who chaired the Pacific Islands Forum will be co-charing this summit together with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan. 16 Pacific countries attending the summit together with Japan will also be holding bilateral meetings as well as other high level meetings, discussing about topics such as climate change to strengthen relations between the Pacific countries and Japan. Many events in relation to PALM 7 are also being held.
