Extreme drought conditions are continuing in the Republic of Palau.

As mentioned in the Declaration of a State of Emergency ordered March 22, 2016, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA) weather report dated March 21, 2016 states that cumulative rainfall over the past 4 months hit record low ever since 1951 with Koror now in a state of Extreme Drought (Drought Level 3 of 4), and below average rainfall projected for the next 2-3 months. With regards to water sources for the Koror-Airai system, Ngerimel Dam has been shutdown, and Ngerikiil River below 19% of normal production.

Water rationing procedures are taking place with 3 hours of water each morning and evening.

Areas outside Koror and Airai are also experiencing dangerously low water levels and are in water-rationing schedules as well.

Health conditions, wildfire, and securing water for the cooling mechanism for the  electrical power plant are grounds of concern.

パラオでは引き続き干ばつが続いております。

3月22日に発出されましたパラオ共和国の非常事態宣言にも記されて様にNOAA（アメリカ海洋大気庁）の3月21日付報告では過去４ヶ月の降水量は1951年以来最低を記録し、コロールでの干ばつは極度の干ばつ状態（4段階中3番目）であり、平均値以下の降水量が今後2-3ヶ月続くという予報が出ております。また、水源に関しましてもアイライ州にあるダムは閉鎖、川は水量19%以下。新たな水源として以前使われていたとされる井戸などの水質を調査しております。

今年１月から水位の低下が見られていたものの、３月に入り急激な低下が見られたためPPUC（パラオ公共事業公社）は3月12日から14時間、19日から16時間、そして22日から18時間の計画断水をアイライ州並びにコロール周辺にて実施しております。

アイライ州並びにコロール周辺以外のバベルダオブ島の地域やペリリューやアンガウルの各州でも水不足が発生しており、同じく計画断水が実施されております。

極度の水不足により健康状態が懸念される中、山火事の発生や発電所の冷却水確保も懸念材料であります。
